Talisker is the oldest Single Malt Scotch Whisky distillery made by the sea on the shores of the Isle of Skye, one of the most remote, rugged, yet beautiful landscapes in Scotland. Few whiskies tell the story of their origin better than Talisker. Its smell and taste instantly connect the drinker with the rugged environment – like a warm welcome from a wild sea. It’s a powerhouse; challenging but adored; once discovered rarely left.

The Isle of Skye is renowned for its rich, varied landscape – from its soft, serene shores to the dark, jagged peaks of the Cuillin mountains. Talisker Skye is the distillery’s ode to these appealing contrasts, with a smoky sweetness, maritime notes and a spicy edge.

Serving Suggestion:
Best served in a Talisker Rocks Glass, neat or with a little water.

Region A lively character from the oldest distillery on Skye.
Appearance Bright 18 carat gold with polished copper lights.
Body Medium bodied and softly textured.
Nose The first glorious citrus sweetness of fresh oranges develops into soft mango. Maritime air with seaweed, driftwood and salt continue under.
Palate Soft and sweet at first, coating and tongue tingling, with light smoke. Quickly becomes more pungent and savoury with a hot spiciness.
Finish Drier and of medium-length, with a lasting, smooth aftertaste, in which light peaty burnt embers can be found.

Insights from some of the best in the business

The latest release from Talisker is an NAS bottling which contains whisky matured in toasted and refill American oak casks. According to the distiller, this is “An easy-drinking Talisker…more approachable, but still definitely Talisker.” Certainly approachable on the nose, with tangerines, honey, and milk chocolate, before ozone and peat smoke develop. Ginger and a hint of coal tar. Medium-bodied, with citrus fruit and increasingly hot spices, though never overwhelming. Spicy peat, white pepper, and aniseed in a nutty finish.

Gavin Smith, Whisky Advocate Summer 2015

Some people say that Scotch has lost its edge, especially compared to bigger, more bombastic world whiskies. They need to try this.

Neil Ridley 2015, Whisky Magazine, Issue 127

This is an uncommonly sweet and fruity Talisker. Young alright, but the toasted oak works out quite well. A nice entry-level whisky and the best NAS so far from Talisker.
